Social Responsibility

At StoneAge we have learned that good habits never get old. Then, in addition to adopting a green policy when using natural resources in our workplace, we have invested in partnerships with social entities to help other people and contribute to eliminate inequality.
As a definition, social responsibility means to fulfill the duties and obligations the persons have before the Society as a whole. This includes either the concerns with the environmental conditions of our planet, or help so other less favorable persons may have the necessary conditions to live with dignity.
We know that each beginning of year is a chance to restart and to do things in a different manner, with more motivation to change old habits and introduce new ones. Thinking of the wider meaning of social actuation and opportunities a new year brings in, Stone Age decided to enlarge its social focus in 2010.
Our green policy will remain, because good habits never get old. We stimulate to digitalize all processes and internal notices, and when necessary, to use recycled paper only. In addition, our office is equipped with fluorescent lights, that are more economical, and the employees have the choice of wear their own casual clothes, since a more formal wear would lead to bigger consumption of air conditioning in a city like Rio de Janeiro. We have also distributed thermal jugs to the employees in order to reduce the consumption of plastic cups.
At the same time, we believe that each moment is important for social actions, as the social abyss is increasing a lot in our country. Since we get concerned with we see, and we refuse to see this reality, we have decided that this is the ideal moment to start our social activities. Our short time of existence helps us introduce, in our culture, and consequently in the employees’ culture as well the habit of helping other people, and the belief that we can make the difference.
It is easy to take social actions when we read the news, watch the TV news and, especially, see the poverty with our own eyes. However, Stone Age wants to take concrete actions, and provide the social projects the same differentiated attention as the one given to the clients. To us, adopting a hands-on attitude means to be engaged actively in the design, implantation and monitoring of NGOs projects we have supported.
If it is a duty of everyone to contribute and get engaged, why could prevent a technology solutions company from doing the same? We are all affected, directly and indirectly, by social problems of our society, and then we could not keep our arms crossed just watching from our adjustable chairs, in our acclimatized offices. That’s why Stone Age has decided to embrace the social responsibility cause.
A hug can have different meanings: Welcome, good bye, or a simply affection demonstration. For us, it goes beyond all these meanings, and also means engagement and commitment. We embrace our social work by dedicating time and effort to the social causes, in order to take concrete actions, unlike other people who gets satisfaction by only providing a bank wire transfer. To start our social actions, we work with two NGOs.: Migalhas de Luz and Singularizando On the next page you could see a brief history and description of both NGOs, and understand the reasons of our engagement.
