The analysis of historical series is one of the simplest and yet at the same time most powerful tools available for companies today. Using large enough historical series, one can make predictions (of consumption, of expected values, of stocking levels) almost as good as those created by any mathematical model. At the same time, most solutions in the market today treat historical series analysis as a “second class citizen”, hidden amongst dozens of other features, if it exists at all.
Recognizing the importance and desirability of this kind of analysis to any decision making process, Stone Age Tech developed the eXtreme Time Analysis product. With it, any user can rapidly and efficiently analyze any kind of time series, from simple temporal series (with year by year evolution, for example) to complex series with multiple evolution dimensions.
All temporal series are archived in a central repository that is stored in an eXtreme Database format, allowing it to be queried through any available attribute. Users can choose, for instance, to work with all time series that fit into a certain period of time, with only the parts of these series that fit into another period, or even with series associated to a certain geographical area or demographics group.
Furthermore, all analysis results are automatically exported into an Excel™ like interface, where they can be studied through an intuitive graphical interface. Also, any natural aggregation for the serial dimension is automatically recognized. This means that day-by-day series can be transformed into weekly, monthly, quarterly or even yearly series without processing cost, and series with a geographical dimension of states can be aggregated into regions, countries and so forth.
