The most common result of any business intelligence analysis is a report. A good report can convey important information in a concise and direct manner, through graphs, maps, colored tables, or any other graphical tools an analyst judges necessary. Because of their widespread use, reporting tools are a few of the most complex existing today in the market.

In spite of the amount of offerings in the market, however, the reporting tool most used in the world is Microsoft Excel™. Since it’s familiar to most users and it’s available in almost every company, every analyst turns to Excel in order to build and distribute their reports, either through printed copies, on a corporate intranet, or over e-mail.

Following this trend, we at Stone Age Tech decided to create a reporting solution that could work together with the most popular tool in the world. Using our eXtreme Excel Reporting Services, users can assemble reports from information extracted directly from eXtreme Databases, enjoying the same levels of performance as OLAP users.

Besides Excel integration, eXtreme Excel Reporting also has a central reporting repository that can hold all reports created, and that controls all access and modifications through an elaborate password and access codes system that ensures information security and integrity. Coupled with the versatility of the eXtreme Databases, companies can create a central repository for concepts and reports, eliminating all conceptual inconsistencies across departments.

The product also includes a distribution management module, which allows the automatic and/or pre-programmed execution and distribution of reports. An analyst can, for instance, build a set of reports that are run every time a database is updated, and that is automatically distributed, through e-mail, to all interested parties.

Organizations can use eXtreme Excel Reporting as an effective and low cost platform for the creation of Management Information Systems (MIS), avoiding the duplication or conflict of both concepts and information.
